Project overview

Felixstowe Docks operates under extremely demanding trafficking conditions. Progressive settlement within an existing block-paved access route resulted in uneven surfaces and increased maintenance. After removal of the failed paving, Duropave, in collaboration with the asphalt contractor, installed reinforced asphalt incorporating Glasstex P100,engineered to enhance tensile strength, optimise load distribution and extend service life.

The solution

Following removal of the sunken block paving, the existing foundation was prepared and a regulating layer installed. Duropave then installed Tensar Glasstex P100 reinforcement within the asphalt construction to create a high-strength composite pavement structure capable of resisting tensile stresses and shear forces generated by heavy container handling equipment.
